Kingscourt School, Catherington, UK
ABOUT KINGSCOURT SCHOOL, CATHERINGTON, UK
Kingscourt is a small independent school for boys and girls aged 3-11 years in Catherington, Hampshire. We are based in 20 acres of countryside and are proud of our consistently high academic standards in Maths, English and Science. Our children’s reading ages are significantly above the UK average.
All of our students, from the youngest to the oldest, are encouraged to be kind, polite, helpful and to behave well. Our students have a very wide choice of co-curricular activities to take part in, and our small class sizes mean we get to know each child very well as an individual. We also work closely with parents to make sure that every child reaches their full potential whilst they’re with us. Our stimulating working environment means that children are happy to work hard and aim high.
“Kingscourt School successfully meets its aims and provides a good quality of education with some outstanding features. The good curriculum and good teaching and learning from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to the end of Key Stage 2 result in pupils making good progress, except in English where pupils make outstanding progress. Pupils’ outstanding behaviour and spiritual, moral, social and cultural development ensure that pupils become self-assured individuals excited to learn and develop.”
Ofsted, March 2012
Our Year 6 pupils are regularly awarded scholarships to leading senior schools, with an outstanding 18 awarded in 2015. All children are stretched to their intellectual limits and prepared thoroughly for Common Entrance and entrance exams to a variety of schools including: Portsmouth Grammar School, Portsmouth High School, Churchers College, Sherborne College, St. John’s College, Meoncross, The Oratory, Seaford College and the Royal Hospital School.
Mr Jamie Lewis
Jamie was appointed as Deputy Head at Kingscourt School in 2012 taking on the subject leadership of Maths and Physical Education. Previously, he taught in two large inner city schools in Portsmouth and Southampton holding a Head of Physical Education position and also carrying out transition work with the local junior schools.
Jamie took up the post of Head Teacher in April 2017 and in a fast paced world he believes that it is vital for children to savour their childhood. Kingscourt works hard to achieve this whilst preparing them academically and socially to be confident, successful individuals when they enter secondary education. As the new Head, his aim is to build on the school’s outstanding reputation, maintaining excellent academic results whilst developing character education and increasing the quality and quantity of outdoor learning.
