Cranbrook is a small and friendly school for boys and girls aged 4-16. Located in the heart of Ilford, we are just five minutes walk from the train station.
We hope to inspire every child's interests, arouse their curiosity and nourish their development from the time they arrive for their first day in school until they leave us with a good set of GCSE grades. When they leave Cranbrook, we hope that they will be a well-mannered and well-presented young person with all of the attributes that they will need to make their way through life.
In the Pre-Preparatory School, emphasis is placed on literacy and numeracy, with small class sizes giving plenty of opportunity for individual attention. Handwriting and computer skills are also taught and standards in the Key Stage 1 SAT's are high. Spanish is introduced, encouraging children to develop their language skills from an early age.
In the Junior School, pupils follow a broad-based curriculum in which Literacy and Numeracy remain a priority. French enters alongside Spanish, with Art, Geography, History, ICT, Music, Religious Education, Science, PE and Games completing the programme. Pupils do very well in the Key Stage 2 SAT's.
In the Upper School, a full curriculum at Key Stage 3 leads to a wide choice of subjects at Key Stage 4. Work Experience takes place in Year 11. The core GCSE subjects are English, English Literature, Mathematics and Double Award Science. Four further subjects are selected from: Art, Business Studies, French, Geography, History, ICT, Music, Physical Education, Religious Studies and Spanish. GCSE results in recent years have been outstanding.
Tour mornings for the Preparatory & Junior School are held on Wednesdays at 9.30-1.30am, every week during term time.
We are pleased to announce the planned integration of Glenarm College and Cranbrook College primary schools into Waverley Lodge, a new single site adjacent to the existing Cranbrook College campus. The two schools share the same founder and integration will bring the schools back to their origins.
The integration of these two schools will allow us to provide the highest standard of education for all pupils, both now and in the future. There will be a new purpose-built Nursery with capacity for 13 pupils from January 2011 and Glenarm pupils and Cranbrook Junior and Prep school pupils will move into Waverly Lodge in the Summer Term 2011.
The new building is an integral part of the 3-16 vision across both schools. The existing Cranbrook College site will be enhanced by the addition of new ICT and science rooms.
“The School is a friendly and safe place for my child – the new building is well resourced and equipped....The teaching staff are nice and have an open door policy.”
