By continuously striving for excellence in our schools, we help children achieve beyond expectations.

We recognise this challenge and plan the remuneration packages for our people accordingly.

We also invest in our staff to ensure they have the knowledge, skills and experience to deliver excellence, whether their role is in the classroom or in providing wider support in a school or in one of our regional offices.

What we offer

Our employees enjoy a comprehensive range of benefits, not least professional development incentives that can see their talents and efforts being transformed into vibrant and rewarding careers. We do this through a number of formal and informal methods, such as:

Leadership conferences – The diverse scope of schools and people within Cognita provide you with a network of like-minded peers to discuss key issues and share best practice.

Work-related conferences, seminars, tuition and professional subscriptions – We believe building professional knowledge and practice should extend beyond Cognita. We encourage and support our people in such activities.

Coaching, mentoring and networking in the workplace – Whether formal or informal, training activity of this kind has an important role in the range of development we offer our people.

From Part-time bursar to School Business Manager

Nisha Nathwani joined Cognita in 2008 as part-time Bursar of Hendon Preparatory School in the UK. In 2011, she was promoted to School Business Manager and, in addition, took on the responsibility of School Business Manager for Salcombe Preparatory School.

“I work closely with the Heads and Cognita Head Office to ensure that the schools meet and ideally exceed their educational and financial aims. I’m responsible for preparing a realistic profit and loss budget including pupil numbers, fees, staffing and operating expenditure, and for ensuring that the school makes best use of its budget, buildings and resources whilst managing any unforeseen developments with appropriate cost management. I’m also in charge of all aspects of billing, timely collection of fees and the purchase ledger as well as payroll administration and Human Resources-related reporting requirements. And finally for overseeing Health and Safety, the capital investment and repair and maintenance programme and managing the outsourced operational contracts for cleaning and catering. “I really enjoy working in the school environment and the daily interaction with staff, students and parents. In addition, I thrive on the fact that the role covers a range of disciplines and responsibilities, and I gain a great deal of job satisfaction from seeing how financial efficiency can make a positive difference to the school community. “Cognita are excellent employers who recruit talent from a wide variety of disciplines both in and outside of the education sector and from diverse backgrounds. Through my own experience and career development, I can say that Cognita are an employer who support, facilitate and nurture home grown talent.”
